Jayalalithaa tells Karunanidhi

“Karunanidhi can solve neither the problems of the people of Tamil Nadu nor the plight of the Sri Lankan Tamils because the worries about his own family are filling his mind.. as such if he resigns the Chief Minister’s post, it will resolve all problems at one stroke and a prosperous future will dawn for the people of Tamil Nadu,” Jayalalithaa said in a statement here on Saturday.

She also demanded that Karunanidhi should come forward to dissolve the present Assembly. Referring to the remark of Karunanidhi that he was satisfied with the performance of his Government because of a number of achievements, Jayalalithaa said Karunanidhi had made a laughable statement.

Giving a detailed account on the hardships faced by the people of all sections of society due to power cuts, rise in the prices of all commodities especially vegetables, Jayalalithaa said due to Karunanidhi’s administrative inefficiency, all sectors were lagging behind in progress.

The AIADMK chief said instead of trying to cheat the people by playing gimmicks like selling certain commodities through the PDS, the Chief Minister should take genuine steps to bring down the prices of all essential commodities in open market.

Jayalalithaa said the prices of all vegetables had gone up from 50 per cent 100 per cent and the prices of tomato, beans, carrot, drumstick were being sold at Rs.60 per kg in local markets. No vegetable is available for less than Rs.25 per kg, she added. Stating that the law and order was getting deteriorated day by day, Jayalalithaa pointed out that an attempt was made to murder a lifer taking treatment at a government hospital in Cuddalore a few days ago.
