Ministry brings new vaccine to counter Novel Influenza AH1N1

In a bid to counter the spread of Novel Influenza AH1N1, the Ministry of Health Care and Nutrition is to immediately import an injection called “Novel A H1N1 2009”, which has been approved by the World Health Organization, to treat patients.

Cases of 258 patients suffering from this Influenza also called ‘swine flu’ have been reported from many parts of the island. Five deaths also have been reported.

The Ministry of Health believes that there could be many unreported cases of persons afflicted with the viral disease throughout the country.

The Ministry has also decided to utilize two varieties of bacteria imported from Cubato treat the diseases Leptros Pyrosis and Dengue.

The Cuban Ambassador in Sri Lanka who met the Minister of Health recently has requested to use the BTI Bacteria to confront the mosquitoes spreading the Dengue disease and the Biorat Bacteria to control Leptros Pyrosis.
