Fire in Norochcholai

A fire broke out inside a warehouse at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant early this morning causing extensive damage to property and goods, and the Navy and Army were called in to help douse the blaze.

The Kalpitiya Police, Officers of the Norochcholai Police Post, the Navy and Army took more than three hours to control the fire.

Residents in the area expressed concern at the absence of a fire brigade, especially near a massive coal plant, and added that the police had to bring water in bowsers to douse the flames.

The police are conducting further investigations
