Rs 7,500 fine for selling infants packeted milk powder

Anuradhapura Magistrate Chandima Edirimanne yesterday imposed a fine of Rs 7,500 on a company based in Colombo for selling packeted milk powder for infants without proper approval from the Health Authorities.

The Magistrate made this order when a case filed by Medical Officer of Health in Mihintale J. Jayathilaka against this particular company was taken up for hearing.

The company based in Ratmalana and its Director Board were made respondents in the case.

This packet of milk powder was sold by an owner of restaurant in Sippikulama.

This restaurant owner was also ordered to appear in Court on November 26 by the Magistrate.
