Loans for war widows

The Rehabilitation Authority (REPPIA) will introduce a housing loan scheme on low interest rate to tens of thousands of war widows in the country through the Bank of Ceylon by next month, Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Minister D.E.W.Gunasekara said.

“This soft housing loan scheme is aimed at providing relief to the lowest segment of the society of war affected families where the breadwinner is a widow. The interest rate will be 4%,” Minister Gunasekara said.

The cabinet approval has been obtained by Minister Gunasekara for the micro finance scheme financed by the REPPIA. Upto Rs 250,000 can be obtained by war widows through this housing loan.
